STEAM Education in the Garden

'Growing Healthy Kids' Program

20 Elementary Schools, Year-Round

The core of the Growing Healthy Kids program is Outdoor Garden Class for elementary school students. This year, Growing Healthy Kids is teaching Garden Class at 20 elementary schools, including 19 of the 30 elementary schools in MDUSD and 1 charter school in Antioch.

Students attend garden class as part of their regular daytime schedule. In class, students get their hands dirty with experiential gardening and science! Working together as a team, they investigate the phenomena around them, care for the plants and animals in the garden, and practice integrating the science they learn in their classroom in a real world environment.
