Susannah Meyer is a nonprofit executive with deep community ties to Contra Costa County. Her career includes diverse experiences in corporate business, public service, parent advocacy and volunteerism, where she learned important skills in strategic partnerships and resource stewardship that she is inspired to use to sustain Growing Healthy Kids’ mission.

She most recently served as Empowered Aging’s Executive Director after a rapid promotion from Director of Programs. During her tenure, she strengthened the agency’s capacity for advocacy while skillfully navigating state mandates and policies to better serve seniors living in long-term care facilities. She has also served as the Community Engagement Director at Meals on Wheels Diablo Region where she led a team of marketing, development, event planning, program, and outreach professionals. In both organizations, Susannah was tapped for her ability to bridge key leadership transitions in ways that build resilience of programs, culture, and operations.

Susannah has also worked as a Senior District Representative for State Senator Steve Glazer, managing community and local government relations with a focus on social services and senior issues. In 2020, Susannah successfully ran for Brentwood City Council and in 2024, she was elected to a 4-year term as Brentwood’s Mayor. She sees her public service as a powerful means of informing her nonprofit leadership, as she is able to raise the voices of those who are often not heard and drive policy that serves people of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities.

Susannah is a proud Bay Area native and a member of the Brentwood Lions Club. She is mother, grandmother, and currently lives with her husband and a large rescue dog named Ziggy. She credits her experience as a mother with teaching her about the power of advocacy, volunteerism, and parental and community engagement so that all kids can be supported to learn and thrive.
