Terri Edwards-Nixon
Founding Educator and Member At Large
Board of Directors
Terri piloted the Growing Healthy Kids Garden Education program at Sequoia Elementary, where she taught for six years.
Since 2021, she has been the lower school Learning Garden and middle school Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion teacher at Park Day School, a progressive school in Oakland.
Some of her favorite parts of being an educator are making connections with the students, providing creative and engaging lessons that embrace all types of learning styles, and being a positive influence in the lives of her students. Terri is committed to guiding students to be critical thinkers, empathetic, and active community members.
During the pandemic, Terri felt the need to connect with her community and to get people outside and gardening. She started a plant and seed swap for neighbors to stop by and trade or start their gardening adventure. Three years later it’s still going strong.
Terri and partner Terry live in Pleasant Hill, have two sons in college, and a dog named Max.
