Kenia Cervantes
Garden Educator
Bel Air Elementary
Kenia is a bilingual Garden Educator at Bel Air Elementary. She brings curiosity, connection, and a genuine love of nature to the classroom. Previously, Kenia was a lead crisis advocate for the Sexually Exploited Minors Program at Bay Area Women Against Rape. In this role, she was passionate about youth skill building and child safety. She was instrumental in creating seamless support to child victims of sexual exploitation.
Raised in a Mexican family where meals were the heart of community, Kenia grew up with a deep appreciation for how food connects us. She is excited about engaging children in opportunities they would not otherwise experience and believes that every child, whatever their background, can cultivate food and feel proud of caring for something living. As an educator, Kenia aims to bring hands-on access to nature and
nutrition to all, especially those who might not have the accessibility to participate in growing their own food.
Kenia is the proud mother of one. In her spare time, she enjoys playing video games, taking long walks, and spending time with her family and puppy.
