Olive Bartholomew

Garden Educator & Transition Team Member

Cambridge Elementary

I am known as "Farmer Olive" at Cambridge Elementary, where I teach bilingually in English and Spanish. I am passionate about environmental and climate justice, which is why I have been drawn toward the sovereignty that growing our own food brings to our communities. While I have been a garden educator ranging the K-12 spectrum in the bay area for four years, I have also worked with many urban and community gardens in various capacities. Providing an interactive and edible outdoor space to children is important to me when I think about the wellbeing of our future generations.

I have experience working with various nonprofits in the realm of garden education, from Climate Corps Education Outside to the International Rescue Committee, In these positions, I have contributed to several projects including a racial justice action plan, USDA-grant funded curriculum development, and a garden educator cook book. Outside of garden education, I also have experience fundraising for environmental justice nonprofits and other causes, working in food access, and community organizing.
